Celebrating Ethiopia!

Hubby and I went to the annual Ethiopian cultural festival on Saturday. This was held at an Ethiopian church close to our house. I like to think of the church as "our Ethiopian church." :) Religion is a large part of the Ethiopian culture. The country is fairly evenly split between Ethiopian Christians and Muslims.

This cultural event caters to adoptive families who have, or are in the process of, adopted/adopting from Ethiopia. There were many Ethiopian/Eritrean church members there wearing traditional attire. There was also Ethiopian singing along with a traditional Ethiopian meal.

It was a great time to learn about the Ethiopian culture and support the Ethiopian church. It was also really fun to see all of the adoptive and Ethiopian families with their beautiful Ethiopian children. We look forward to the day when we will attend with our own Ethiopian child.
